House Sitting

So I house sat for my aunt & uncle in Burleson the 22nd - 27th while they went to Phoenix to visit friends. I had such a great time being there!! Anyway, I thought that I would share some of the highlights/events of the week... The first night that I was there, I was watching tv in their media room when my phone rang - I saw that it was Craig & was about to answer when I heard this loud "cat-fight" type noise coming from the sunroom (where 2 of their cats were at the time). So I lept over the couch & out the door to see a small fox trotting away - I think the cats wanted to fight it, which would've been great! ;)

On Friday, I laid down mulch in their garden after doing my morning cat duties, which included giving one of their cats' an insulin shot 2x a day b/c he's diabetic! Later that evening, I met Kristen & Chris for dinner at Chili's & then we came back to the house to hang out & watch a movie.

Saturday, I went to Waco & Lake Whitney with Kristen and Chris. We left around 7:45am & drove to Waco b/c Chris had to get a new cell phone - while there, his parents, grandmother, brother, & sister-in-law met up with us to change out his phone & go to lunch. Well, his grandmother, Ita, is Dominican & speaks only Spanish...so at one point, Chris thought it would be funny & told her that I speak Spanish - so she comes up to me and starts talking...luckily Mr. Willis (Ita's son-in-law) was standing next to me and told her that I don't speak Spanish. Ita turned around and hit Chris in the arm & started calling him a liar - it was pretty great...Ita is so cute and funny!! After lunch with the Willis' we drove up to Lake Whitney & met up with the Allison's & Rettigs (family friends) - we spent the rest of the day laying out, skiing, swimming, tubing, and just having a great time! I love going to the lake. Well, we got back home around 10pm & K&C dropped me off. When I got inside after telling them bye, I walked back to the bedroom & saw that my gun was not on the nightstand - my heart instantly went into panic mode thinking "someone's in the house & has my gun!" So I sprinted back to the kitchen, grabbed my cell phone, & began calling Kristen. Just before she answered, I remembered that I had put the gun in the drawer of the nightstand before I left that morning - whew!! I went ahead and talked to Kristen and told her what happened to try and calm myself down and stop shaking. Still a little nervous, I got the gun out & went & checked over the rest of the house. What a day!!

Sunday finally rolled around....Erin, Nick, & Samson got there around 2 & the rest of the fam, 4. We then left to go to downtown Ft. Worth to eat at Reata -- it was great food & we even got out own private room! When we got back home, we sat on the deck most of the evening & talked while sipping coffee...around 11 we decided to go in & watch a movie.

Monday morning everyone slept late except me, so Samson & I went for a walk - it was such a nice morning!! The fam ended up leaving around 2ish... Later that afternoon something strange happened to me - I was walking around the house b/c I was bored and all of the suddent I sat down and immediately started crying. I have never done that - there was no telling what was wrong with me!! I sat outside later that evening and tried to write some more songs (it's very inspirational out there). (Horrible pic but I don't care...it's the only one I had of me from the week)

Tuesday... I spent the whole day with Kristen since she was babysitting a 9 week old and packing up their apt. It was a lot of fun hanging out and playing with the baby - I want a baby now...but I guess first things first! ;) She cooked dinner later that evening (and I must say that it was excellent - she is such a great cook!). I am so glad that I got to hang out with she and Chris while I was in the area!

I went home Wednesday around noon....it was such a great week!!
